Statement Opposing Medicaid Expansion in North Carolina as Sponsored by Dr. Greg Murphy

Former candidate Scott Dacey posed the question today as to whether Dr. Murphy would indeed vote with President Trump as he says he would.

I think this begs the question of what evidence do we have that he would?

The most obvious answer is we don't know because he is still insisting that the NC Health Care for Working Families bill is not Medicaid expansion which is a total falsehood. The bill has a ratio of 90% Federal funding to 10% State funding ... just like Medicaid. The bill applies to childless adults making 133% of the poverty line or less ... just like Medicaid. And it would according to Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger eventually account for as much as 80% of the state budget! And this is referred to as a "conservative alternative" to Medicaid expansion? Nonsense! Big government answers on healthcare are the opposite of what's needed. This bill is a give away to the big hospital lobby at the expense of taxpayers and so there's no guarantee that Dr. Murphy will vote to repeal Obamacare outright.
